See the Area’s History Come to Life
While you’re with us this summer, be sure to check out The Terror of the Tug, an outdoor drama based on the local coal mine wars of the early 20th Century. The story centers around the murder of Sid Hatfield and Ed Chambers by private mine detectives on the steps of the McDowell County Courthouse. Shows play on various dates throughout the summer at 8pm at the McArts Amphitheatre located off Rt 52 in Welch. Call 304-585-7959 for details.

Check out the October Sky Fall Festival
This October 4, stop by the nearby town of Coalwood to see "October Sky" author Homer Hickam and celebrate the beautiful fall colors and WV history. Events include autograph and book signings, entertainment, food, hayride, games and more. Model rockets will be launching throughout the day! See scenic southern West Virginia at its fall splendor. Call 304-297-4124 for more details.
